Up until the latter half of chapter 4, Ephesians can be seen as the “Enlistment” phase of joining and serving in God’s army. We’ve been recruited, tested, instructed, and our new life described, but it isn’t until here that we really begin “Basic Training”, putting off the civilian life and becoming a true soldier in the Army of Christ.
